Join us for the next installment of our Policy Series on Foreign Policy with former Australian Ambassador to Israel, Mr Dave Sharma.
Dave has had a distinguished career serving Australia’s interests on the world stage. He was Australia’s Ambassador to Israel from 2013 to 2017, during which trade, investment and innovation ties between the two countries were strengthened. He has also served in senior diplomatic postings in Washington DC and Papua New Guinea. Whilst in Papua New Guinea, he was involved in facilitating the peace negotiations that brought the civil war to an end.
Dave has also held senior public service roles in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra. As First Assistant Secretary of DPM&C, he advised the Prime Minister on Australia’s international relations. As Assistant Secretary of DFAT, he advised the Foreign Minister on Australia’s diplomatic relations in Africa.
